“Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds.” This is the inscription found on the General Post Office in New York City at 8th Avenue and 33rd Street. And because today is “National Thank a Mailman Day”, we wanted to do something special for ours. We have a local post office that handles all of our mailing and shipping on a nearly daily basis, and they have saved my hide a few times, catching address SNAFU’s and getting mail to my P.O. Box that was incorrectly addressed. A good post person can save the day! So on this holiday, we thought it would be extra sweet to remind them of how appreciative we are, by taking our post people some homemade french dip sandwiches with au jus. Just the thing for a brisk 37° afternoon.
I even printed some little postcards that we taped to the top of each container. (You can print your own, for free, by clicking here. I would recommend using cardstock)
You could attach these cards to any little gift, or just leave as a nice note for your carrier. Let them know you appreciate their service.
Have a happy “National Thank a Mailman Day”!
